The Change Dance offers 3 different divisions that progress into each other: 

The Discover Division is for young dancers just discovering what dance is. Most students under the age of 8 will begin their dance education within the Discover Division. These classes include: creative movement, combination classes, and introductory level classes. Dancers then progress into either the Creative Division or the Artist Division. 

The Creative Division is our recreational program that allows dancers ages 7+ (depending on ability) to continue their dancing with less of a time commitment.  The Creative Division is for the dancer who might only want to take one or two classes a week. 

The Artist Division is our pre- professional program. This program allows dancers to take multiple classes per week while bundling the classes for less of a financial commitment for parents. Dancers wanting to partake in our competition collective must be registered for classes in the Artist Division. This program offers a multitude of opportunities for your dancer. The Artist Division sets dancers up for success no matter whatever profession they choose. However, if they choose to go on professionally with dance they will have been exposed to elements from broadway, concert dance, commercial dance, and the professional ballet realm. 

Our Competition Collective is an additional opportunity for dancers within the Artist Division. Dancers are placed into groups which they learn dances for in the fall. They then compete these dances at 3-4 local competitions around the Des Moines area. Judges from each competition provide feedback called “critiques” to help dancers continue to grow and be challenged. The Change Dance Competition Collective rehearses on Wednesday or Thursday nights. Each dance rehearses for 45 Minutes. There are additional costs associated with being a member of our competition collective.
